By request, Master David Leung will be teaching the Yang style broadsword. A fourth generation student of Grandmaster Yang Chen Fu, Master David Leung has been practicing Yang style Tai Chi for the past 47 years. Master David Leung studied with Grandmaster Leung King Yu, a very famous Tai Chi practitioner in China during the early fifties.
Being one of the few people teaching Tai Chi in Eugene during the early seventies, Master Leung became well known among top level masters both in China and America. He was asked and had accepted the position of Vice President representing America for the World Wide Association for Internal Martial Arts and also the honorary presidential post of Tsang Cheuk Yi Chen Style Taiji & Southern Shaolin Damo Assocition.
In the past, the Yang style broadsword was only taught to students that had studied the martial arts for many years. Only practitioners that had mastered the empty hand forms and the straight sword were taught the broadsword. The Yang style broadsword form became a rare gem because most people did not study the art long enough to learn it. There are only a small percentage of Yang Tai Chi practitioners in America that know and teach the broadsword form.
